It's almost the end of summer, and that means any of your late summer/early fall weddings are right around the corner! Around this time many brides start looking to get the final details of their wedding in place. One of those details is an escort board. What is an escort board you ask? (Don't worry, we won't judge you if you didn't know!) It's a board or source of information for where guests at a wedding find their table assignments for the reception seating. In recent years, escort boards have become a prominent source of creativity for brides. There's just so many different ways to do it, and (you know us) we couldn't be happier about that.
So if you're wedding is coming up and you're stressing out because you have no idea how you want to do your escort board, don't worry, we've compiled a list of some of our faves! (And if you're single and simply taking notes, don't be afraid to hit that Pin button and add it to your dream pinterest board. You'll have a leg up when that Mister gets down on one knee.)
1. Handwritten Wood Board
100% cannot go wrong with this beauty. The dark wood stain and the light calligraphy always stand out at a reception, and we get "oh's" and "ah's" for days with these guys.
Literally so many different options with tile. You can go to your local home and garden type store and choose from thousands of marbles, tiles, stones, etc. that you might use in a kitchen or even terracotta squares or cement or things you would use in your backyard. The colors and varieties are endless. And with some kick-ass calligraphy we are always obsessed with this clean & modern look.
3. Seasonal Fruits
Who told you that you couldn't use fruits or vegetables for your escort board?!?! That person is very wrong and probably still stuck in the 80's. Hello this is 2016 and we love a good fruit escort situation. Lean towards in-season fruits or veggies of your chose to help keep costs down, and to further enhance the organic atmosphere and decor of your venue. For example: outdoor Southern wedding? I'm looking at you lemons. Maybe your event is a little more fiesta inspired: limes. Winery? grapes. Farm? Tangerines/oranges. Are we in Fall yet? Pomegranates, pears, pumpkins. You get the idea.
4. Paper + Cork
Are you the more traditional, simple, elegant type? Then these classic cards placed in a cork on a table are definitely for you. Especially if you are having your wedding at winery.
5. Printed Ombre Cards on Wood Board
This is another great easy option. It's clean & modern and boy is it swoon worthy. Pick the colors you want to go with (keep it simple--these guys only went with pink & blue!) and start watercoloring like you're back in kindergarten.
This is the perfect example of letting your surroundings inspire your big day! Are you getting married by the beach? A marina? A bay? Let it insipire you. The best events feel organic, authentic, and consistent. So if you're at the beach, stay consistent. Don't try and compete with the beach. Simply play it up.
Chalkboards.... somethin' about them. Maybe it's because it reminds us of the grade school days when things were carefree and easy. Maybe its the stark constrast of the white chalk and black board that feeds into our obsession for clean lines and clarity. Who can really say. But what we can say is that everybody loves tbese chalkboard, hand-written bad boys.
8. Hand Dip-Dyed Cards
Dip dye is a beautiful thing. It feels organic and light and you can do it yourself really easily! And when its paired with a clean, modern text--it looks out of this world!
9. Potted Plants
HELLO. Can I just say this option is like hitting the trifecta? Individual potted plants with your guest's name & seating attached does triple duty: it acts as the escort board telling them where to sit, it can be their name card at their seat when they bring it with them to sit, it can be their party favor, and it is totally added decor. WAIT. 4 THINGS. IT DOES QUADRUPLE DUTY. NEED I SAY MORE?!?
