There's so many things to figure out when you're planning your wedding! How many guests will you invite, how to arrange the seating chart, what will the groomsmen wear, what will the bridesmaids wear?! Well this week, we're talking about just that -- bridesmaid color schemes! There's so many cool ways to style your best gals! You don't have to stick with the traditional same dress in the same shade anymore! Today, we're sharing our 5 favorite color schemes for your bridesmaids as well as where you can get a bridesmaid dress in the exact shades we're sharing... yeah, we literally did allllll the work for you! So sit back with a glass of red tonight and flip through these as you decide which colors you would want to choose for your bridesmaids!
We love the idea of your bridesmaids not all wearing the same color! It feels so organic and laid-back... and even more, we love the idea of mixed pastels! These softer colors share their softness in common so that even though each color is technically so different, it shares the same feeling. Try opting for these more muted, soft pastel colors instead of bright contrasting jewel tones for a very feminine and organic vibe.
We are partial for a combo of: sage, steel blue, lavender, dusty blush, and soft charcoal. We even linked each color to a website where you can buy that exact shade in a perfect bridesmaid's dress. If you're loving the mixed colors vibe, Show Me Your Mumu is a perfect place to shop for bridesmaids dresses! They have so many fantastic colors and styles that vary but still feel so similar. We find it's best to stick to the same dress designer when you go the mixed colors route, that way it still feels somewhat cohesive and similar despite all being a different shade! Lastly, we also love this concept for a big bridal party because sometimes 9 bridesmaids in the same color can feel like a lot! But 9 ladies in a mix of soft pastel colors that coordinate so well, feels softer and again, oh so organic!
This is another style we love! A range of dresses in the same color but different shades feels like a complete story. The lighter colors soften the darker more robust colors, and when done in this red range it just feels like the most romantic color story.
Here, we opted for: blush, light pink, rusty rose, wine, and burgundy, all from Lulu's! Lulu's has tons of beautiful pink/peachy/mauvey/burgundy shades in their bridesmaid dresses, so we knew they would be the perfect place to shop for this ombre style!
One Shade, Different Styles
In the exact opposite direction, we also love the idea of doing all bridesmaids in one gorgeous shade and just playing with switching up the styles! Instead of going with a more common blush tone, we love the idea of opting for a muted steel blue! This shade looks good on everybody and is just muted and pale enough to also pretty much go with anything! But of course, you could choose any color you are partial to!
We chose the steel blue shade from Show Me Your Mumu, and again, they are perfect for 'one shade, different styles' vibe as they have so many colors and styles to choose from! You can even sort their entire collection by colors so you can find how many styles they carry in those colors or similar colors. Talk about making it easy! 5 styles we particularly love by them for a cohesive look are: Ava Maxi, Audrey Maxi, Hacienda Maxi, Caitlin Ruffle Maxi, and Kendall Maxi -- all which come in Steel Blue. You can even let your besties pick out which dress they would want to wear!
Okay, this is one of our absolute faves! Neutrals, neutrals, neutrals baby. They'll never go out of style, they always look luxurious, and it's the perfect companion shades for your bridal white! It still feels super light and organic, with no bright colorful shades that might conflict with other colors in the space. It's literally the perfect go-to choice for any venue, any floral color choices, anything! And we just seriously can't get over how soft and light it comes out in photos. We could truly go on forever.
In this case, we opted for a nude, taupe, stone grey, warm ivory, and fog combo from various shops like Nordstrom's, Lulu's, and BHLDN. Don't be afraid to pick out (or let your ladies pick out!) dresses from different stores for this one! It actually looks even better when all the various neutral shades are ever so slightly different! It adds to the depth of the colors as a whole!
Sequins are the perfect backdrop for the fun-loving bride! And to be honest, when sequins are done right, they look so good and add an extra level of luxury and fun to the overall look! Plus, talk about a dress your bridesmaids would actually shorten and totally wear again! The key here is a balance of sequin and regular material on the dress--then the sequins aren't too overwhelming and feel just perfectly glam!
We opted for sequin dresses from the best of the best: BHLDN. No one does luxe sequin bridesmaid dresses quite like they do... Tip: try to keep your sequins in the same general color story like warm toned or cool toned. In this case, we leaned into the warm tones of: gold, champagne, rose gold, burnt mauve, etc! Plus, you could totally get away with a large bridal party for this one, since BHLDN has 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 + amazing metallic options! Praise hands goin' up people!
