We've all been there -- the boyfriend gets you cute flowers, or you pick some up while you're at Trader Joe's cause they're so cute and you just can't walk past them without picking them up. And then after like 2 days they're already wilting! Ugh. Feels like such a waste. Well that's where we come in. Today we're sharing our tips from years of floristry for how to make your flowers last longer. So simple and easy. Take a look for yourself.
These 3 steps will have your store bought flowers lasting so much longer!
1. Fresh cut
Give your flowers a fresh cut whether it's greenery or roses everything in your store bought bouquet can use a new cut when you get them home so they can drink up water easier. Cut about half an inch off the end in a diagonal cut. You can cut off as much as you need to so they sit well in your vase.
2. Remove excess greenery
The key is you don't want any leaves to be in your water. When the leaves are in the water it allows bacteria to grow contaminating the water. When you get your flowers home simply peel off an foliage that would sit in the water. As for all the leaves above the water, feel free to leave them!
3. Fresh water daily
Giving your flowers fresh water daily is the best thing you can do and definitely the easiest. Access to clean water will give your flowers long happy lives!
There you have it! It's shockingly simple and easy. Yet so many don't do this for their pretty floral babes. Keep them youthful and pretty to look at. Nothing's better than having fresh flowers around to brighten up your space. But if they look sad, you'll feel sad too. It's a scientific fact. So use our tips to keep them fresh as long as possible.
