Tomorrow is the official first day of fall people!! Are we celebrating?! Have we been making our pumpkin spice lattes for weeks already?! Do we feel like our truest selves are coming back to life?! Have we already bought pumpkins?! The answer is obviously YES to all of these questions. There is just something about the Fall season, what can we say. Wearing your coziest sweaters. Making fires. Snuggling up with your loved one. SMORE’S. MULLED WINE. HOMEMADE WREATHS. Need we say more?! Well, you know we will. But for this week’s blog, we are talking allllll about how to decorate for fall now that it has arrived! Take a peek at our favorite and easy ways to make your home beautiful while reflecting this cozier season of life.
First things first… is it even really fall if you don’t have an autumn wreath on your door?! Our all time favorite wreath? A simple, textured wheat wreath. Muted colors but rich in texture, we can’t get enough! It never goes out of style. Or, this classic autumn wreath from Pottery Barn will have you in the fall spirit every time you come home. What could be better?! Lastly, if you’re looking for something in the middle, still mostly muted but still very fall, this harvest cotton wreath from Magnolia is super cute too!
Throw pillows are such an easy and fun way to change your decor seasonally! And it doesn’t have to be cheesey or have fall sayings written on it. In fact, these round lush velvet throw pillows in golden or copper are super cute ways to add fall colors into your living room or bedroom. These modern black and white buffalo check pillow cases are also a fun classic fall print but in a neutral tone. Or, these belgian linen grain sack pillow cases are a great alternative for something more muted, but still gives a subtle fall farmhouse vibe.
What is cozier than a throw blanket in the fall?! Snuggling up next to someone you love, with a cozy, fluffy, faux-fur throw blanket, drinking hot chocolate or mulled wine is our kind of aesthetic! Pottery Barn has a stellar collection of different colored faux-fur throws to give your house a cozy cabin feel. We especially love their rouched ivory faux fur throw.
If you’re looking for a more neutral, muted decor change, we love adding a few cotton stems into a room. They add such a beautiful texture and homey-ness, two very fall characteristics. We love these cotton stems from Magnolia (yep, from the queen Joanna Gaines).
Switch Out Seasonal Soaps
Switching out your soaps with the season changes are such a fun way to tap into your other senses. Our sense of smell is one of our strongest senses and having a scent that appears seasonally is such a great way to stay connected to the season, feel grounded, and reminisce on seasons past. We are loving the Mrs. Meyer’s Apple Cider Soap for fall!
Scented Seasonal Candles
Hands down, one of our very favorite ways to celebrate and decorate for fall is with special seasonal candles! We wait alllllll year to burn our pumpkin spiced candles! And , as always, we couldn’t be more obsessed with one of our favorite candle companies… PF Candle Co. Their seasonal classics mini gift set is such a great start to their seasonal scents! Whether it’s a gift, or a gift for yourself (#SelfCare), you won’t regret buying this set.
Kitchen Hand Towels
Kitchen hand towels are a fun way to switch up your decor seasonally! They don’t have to be like your grandma’s seasonal thanksgiving kitchen towels… they don’t have to have brightly colored pumpkins on them or say “give thanks” for them to be a seasonal style! In fact, we love showcasing styles that have a more subtle fall vibe. These muted plaid linen towels are perfect. The key for decorating for fall, is to choose pieces that feel cozy. And this darker, muted plaid gives off a major cozy vibe. Other ideas? Muted mustards, or beige-y linens would be perfect!
Last but certainly not least, one of our favorite ways to make your house fall ready is to decorate with assorted mini pumpkins, and gourds, and squash! Your local Trader Joe’s has tons at such a great price! Or, of course, make it a fun family outing to pick some up from the local pumpkin patch. Gather a few on your coffee table, mantle, dining table, bookshelves, etc to showcase fall in all it’s glory.
