This time of year can feel like a lot of costs and expenses are just piling up from all the holiday decorations you are buying and all the gifts you are getting for everyone on your list. That’s why some of our favorite gifts to give and some of our favorite things to decorate with, are homemade. You just feel the love that went into creating something homemade, and these days, in the times of amazon prime and instant deliveries, getting something that someone took so much time out of their day to make for you can feel so much more special. And we feel the same way with homemade decorations too! These simple DIY dried orange slices are such a beautiful and special decor piece—and not to mention, incredibly affordable! When they catch the light, they almost feel like stained glass too. So dreamy! Make this garland and decorate your walls, your bedframe, your tree, your doorways, and so much more!
What You’ll Need
oranges (we used 3 oranges to make the length pictured above!)
Step 1: Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Step 2: Wash oranges.
Step 3: Slice oranges.
Step 4: Pat slices dry and place on parchment paper lined baking sheet.
Step 5: Bake for about 3 hours. Halfway through flip them over.
Step 6: Let them cool and then take ornament hooks and poke through the top of the orange slices.
Step 7: Take the ornament strung slices and hook them on the twine and tie a not to keep it in place. We spaced them each a couple inches apart and made a 3-4 foot garland.
Step 8: Once you've reached your desired length hang it up! We recommend using clear duck tape or command hooks for easy no damage hanging.
Show us your style! If you make these cute, natural garlands, take a pic and tag us so we can see! Would you hang these on your tree or across your mantle or along your stair railing? We want to see!
Cheers to all your holiday decorating!
