We've all been beaming around here lately as we are all still high off the cheer and champagne from celebrating our Co-Founder's wedding. Monica and Tanner threw the best tropical beach party we've ever been to (and yeah--we've been to a lot). At every glance, you were overwhelmed by how beautiful and intentional every thing was. We've always known--Monica is a decor GENIUS, and she did not dissapoint for her own wedding. Get ready to be inspired by all the tropical vibes and endless amounts of love and tequila shots... sorry not sorry for the overload of photos, we just CAN'T hold back sharing when you see how freakin' happy these two were...

Their Wedding Inspiration
Monica: We love the beach and the outdoors and while we weren't able to get married outside it became my mission to make the space feel organic with everything tropical. Tanner's family is Hawaiian so this was the perfect way to tie everything together from the traditional maile leaves that the guys wore to the hula that his sisters and grandmother performed. I also wanted to keep things relatively simple. I felt like this was impossible because I could come up with more decor ideas and more things I could add flowers to within seconds, so I tried my best. I kept the guest tables simple and went all out on our wedding party table! I also tried to bring in big things to make a statement like palm trees and ferns.
The First Look
Q: What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
Monica: Tanner and I decided to do a first look and exchange our private vows before going to take photos. This was such a special moment and by far my favorite! It was the perfect time for it to just be us where we could say whatever we wanted and reflect together on why we're here getting married. We were insanely emotional but it didn't matter because it was just us. This is a moment we will cherish forever for sure.
Q: What was the most stressful part of the planning process?
Monica: Planning a wedding with 250 people can be a lot to handle! I mean just organizing a guest list that size takes work but I was so excited about the whole planning process. Maybe because I've been thinking about our wedding for like 6 years... or just because I am a wedding planner, who knows! Dreaming up every detail was so much fun for me. I am a total control freak though and since I get to plan and coordinate every one else's wedding I wanted our wedding to be like I had done it myself. This obviously wasn't a smart idea so I would say this was the stressful part for me. Having to get every single idea and detail (trust me I had a lot of them) out so that our amazing coordinator could execute it was super challenging for me! Mostly because it put everything into perspective and I really had to face the fact that I would not be setting up our wedding.
Ceremony + Reception
Q: What is the best advice for someone planning a wedding now?
Monica: The piece of advice that I always give our couples is to remember this day is about them! It doesn't matter what family drama happens the night before or if the entire wedding party is running late to the ceremony. There's always something but in the end everyone is gathered to celebrate the couple. This is always hard to remember in the midst of the craziness but this is what I told myself multiple times when I felt like shit hit the fan.
Monica: In the end, we wanted this day to reflect us the most so we cut some traditional things and added our own touch. Tanner gave a toast right before we started dancing and instead of having champagne we took tequila shots. All of our friends and family know that tequila is our drink of choice so we thought it was only fitting.
Q: When envisioning your wedding what was the one most important thing to you?
Monica: As Tanner and I started planning for our wedding he kept saying "I did my job (proposing) now this is all you..." This was cute and all because obviously I was going to plan every detail but he actually ended up doing a lot, probably a lot more than he thought he would. We both love parties and while we may have different visions of what kind of drinks to serve (Tanner: a keg of beer, Monica: white wine spritzers garnished with mint) and what appetizers to have out (I'm all about a beautiful cheese board, he likes probably anything I wouldn't think would photograph well ha!) in the end we both want everyone to have a blast at our party! So this became what was most important to us, everyone was coming to celebrate our marriage so we wanted to give them one hell of a party! We hired a DJ that we heard playing at a bar one night and he was awesome! Everyone was on the dance floor within seconds which some may say it was because we did a toast with tequila shots but either way it was amazing!
Yeah, I mean, now you see why we couldn't just share a few photos of this wedding. Talk about the PERFECT wedding. But not just because the details and aesthetic were everything our pinterest boards are made of, but because of how genuinely happy these two were the entire day and the absolute PARTY they threw. We are living vicariously through these photos dreaming we could still be celebrating...
