We've all been there -- oops, Valentine's Day is in two days and you haven't even started looking for reservations, but at this point it's too late, everything is booked up anyway aside from maybe a sparing 5:30pm or 10pm slot here or there.... But that's okay because today we're bringing you the perfect last minute V-Day idea that you can whip up that night or the night before, feels like it was planned waaaay in advance (totally not a last minute throw together *wink*), and something you could do with your boo or your best gals! We're also including a super easy flower garland DIY for this V-Day celebration. Now *cue the meme of the dogs from Lady & The Tramp slurping spaghetti and kissing* and let's get planning...
As with any romantic endeavors, it's all about setting the scene. That's why we love the idea of a little DIY v-day decor. (And, let's be honest, we don't have all the time in world here, most of us will be running home after work to celebrate, so we're keeping this decor easy and simple!) For making this floral garland...
Here's what you'll need:
- Flowers (we used carnations but you could use just about anything!)
Step 1: Cut your flowers so they have about a two inch stem
Step 2: Cut your twine at the length you want your garland to be. Depending on how many flowers you have and how far you space them your garland could be any length you want.
Step 3: Tie flowers about 4 inches apart or further if you want the garland to be much longer.
Step 4: Tape to the wall with clear duct tape.
Alright -- now that you've got the garland done and hung up it's time to plan the rest of the night....
For a last minute Valentine's Dinner, (again, keeping it simple and sweet people) we love the idea of making your own pizzas! It's easy but interactive. You and the boo could be cooking together and flirting over what the best pizza toppings are (does pineapple go on pizza???) - this is a convo that could keep you going for hours! Simply stop by your local grocery store (Trader Joe's makes this easy!) and grab yourself some pizza dough as well as some pizza sauce and tons of "toppings"! Part of the fun here is having so many to choose from and making your own masterpiece. We love: cheese, green peppers, onions, black olives, pepperoni, proscuitto, mozzarella, tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes, garlic, asparagus, pineapple(???), etc! Go wild! The options are literally endless. Plus, any man loves a good pizza. Win - win.
Now, since we are making pizza after all, you can't forget to play Italian music in the background and have the red wine flowing from the beginning. If you're on spotify, we love the "Italian Dinner Music" playlist -- so romantic and you'll feel like you are in Italy! Now, keep setting the scene with lots of candles on the table. You can never have too many in our opinion...
Last but not least, ENJOY!
We love this super easy valentine's day idea (literally a quick trip to the grocery store when you get off work and you could get everything you need including the flowers!). It's laid back so you both can relax and not stress about reservation times. And, it's so fun to turn cooking into an event! It's almost like going to an art class or a cooking class together but in your own home (and it costs way less) -- even better!
So get your Italian music ready and get the romance flowing! If you make this garland snap a pic and send it to us! We love seeing how your creations come to life!
Now, "Salute, Cento di questi giorni..." Which means, "Cheers, May you have a hundred of these days"... what a beautiful phrase. (Maybe you can even surprise your boo with this Italian toast when you sit down to hit and really impress him!)
