Q: What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
Ugh!! How do I pick just one! Tyler and I both LOVED our reception. Because we took our wedding photos before the ceremony and reception, we were able to maximize celebrating with all of our close friends and family during that time. I mean when else do you ever get to have everyone that you care about in one place? A true DREAM. Wishing we could relive it all now! I also loved our first dance. Tyler and I love swing dancing/dance in general and having that moment to just be in our element was so fun. Tyler leaned over to me during our dance and whispered “I’m going to spin you.” I thought “Okay, we’ve been spinning in circles this whole time,” thinking that we were just going to keep dancing the way we were. A few seconds later, Tyler had picked me up off the ground and spun me around in a circle. It was so unexpected and I couldn’t stop laughing at the delightful surprise. I guess you could say he swept me off my feet. ;)
Q: What was the most stressful part of the planning process?
From the beginning of the planning process, we were looking for a wedding venue that could host both the ceremony and reception, as well as uhh our entire immediate family and bridal party for the whole wedding weekend. We weren’t looking for a hotel, but more of a house that we could call home for a weekend. Yep, that’s right - we wanted 25 people all comfortably under one roof for a weekend. It sounds crazy in retrospect, but we really wanted loads of quality time with all of these people who meant so much to us. Finding this dream venue of ours, turned into some pretty stressful planning. We spent months looking for a venue like this, but it turns out this space was pretty much impossible to find on a budget in the New England area. So we got creative!!! We found the most BEAUTIFUL historic house just outside of the New York border (so we weren’t paying absurd NYC prices) to have our ceremony and reception and then we rented out a Airbnb 30 minutes away from our venue that was able to sleep all 25 of our closest family and friends. The Airbnb was perfect. Some of the best memories of the weekend were made in that house - from our first look in the backyard to conversation and laughter over brunch in the kitchen. Funnily enough even though finding this space was stressful, having the Airbnb as a central location for wedding day attire and decor ended up eliminating so much stress during that weekend. We are so grateful for how it all turned out!
Q: When envisioning your wedding what was the one most important thing to you?
If you can’t tell by now, Tyler and I are big fans of quality time, so what was most important to us leading up to the wedding was making sure we spent as much time with all of our close family and friends who were traveling so far to see us. Since The Lounsbury House had space for both the ceremony and the reception, we didn’t have to leave our guests once on our wedding day and we cherished every second of that!
Q: What is something you wish someone had told you going into the wedding process? Or perhaps, the best piece of advice someone did tell you?
Tyler and I realized in the midst of wedding planning that all we need to remember throughout all of this was that the day was about our union in Christ. Even if everything we had planned went completely wrong, the most important part was our love for Him and for each other and the fact that we were getting HITCHED! Keeping that on our minds really helped us to recenter our thinking if something became super stressful or didn’t go according to plan. We loved the mentality so much, we even put it on our programs - “At the end of the day, stress or not, what matters is that we got married. Thank you for being a part of this special day!!!"
We loved getting to be a part of Jess + Tyler's big day! Its so beautiful to see a love like theirs celebrated. Thank you for letting us witness it and be a small piece of bringing this day together. Cheers to love and many more years of happiness!
