NEW YORK. The epitome of class. The city that makes it feel like you could soar, yet woo's you with its romance at every street corner. Talk about the perfect setting for Mary Catherine + Jordan's love story. Everything about this wedding was classic and timeless and perfect. You won't want to miss this one. One of our favorite parts? The bride's veil has been passed down for over 80 years! What a treasured heirloom! Take a peep to see more of this beautiful New York wedding...
What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
"Jordan and I wrote letters to each other that we read the morning of the wedding, and it set such a strong, peaceful tone for the rest of the day. I can't stress enough how wonderful it was to hear from him! I cried. Hah! It's also worth noting that taking pictures beforehand was the right call. I had been hesitant about seeing him before the ceremony, with tradition being that you don't see each other until the walk down the aisle, but we wanted to capture our formal photos in daylight. That pre-ceremony time turned out to be another favorite memory, because we were really able to enjoy each other. Being all dolled up was fun! And Hannah, our photographer, was able to capture such rich emotion, and I can feel our excitement through those images."
What was the most stressful part of the planning process?
"Looking back, we had a relatively stress-free planning process, and I credit that to the year we had to plan. But that's not to say we didn't run up against hiccups! I anticipated we would. In fact, the church where we had planned our ceremony received a massive grant for a reconstruction and restoration project that would begin January 2018—meaning a short three months before our wedding, we were potentially changing venues. They informed us that the entire roof was being replaced and there would be scaffolding in and around the church to support the replacement. They gave us two options—refund our deposit or move forward with the ceremony, keeping in mind the space would be riddled with construction. At this point, we had printed both save the dates and invitations, so I reasoned that if we could find another venue, the only downside of moving the ceremony would be eating the cost of invitation reprints. By the grace of God, we found another church relatively close by that was available on our date, and Fresh Ink, the team that printed our wedding suite, kindly offered to print small inserts to put in the invitation envelopes detailing the change for free."
Don't these two just look so perfect and classic?! We love how their style fits their New York wedding vibes so perfectly. And we are especially loving two things about their looks...
First of all--Mary Catherine's veil! The bride's veil (a stunning piece of art!) has been worn by 5+ different women in her family and dates all the way back to 1935! Swooooooon. Passed down to her as her "something borrowed", it was so special to see Mary Catherine carry the legacy of the women in her family with her on her big day.
And our second favorite thing about their wedding day looks, was Jordan's tux style! A PERFECT New York classic tux look! He looked so clean, and crisp, and handsome in his peak lapel tuxedo, black satin bow tie, silk knot cufflinks, fly-front dress shirt, and black patent leather shoes from The Black Tux. We are obsessed, and we love that he opted for that bow tie to give it a kick of personality but chose a black satin version so that it was still so crisp and clean. A perfect compliment to stand alongside Mary Catherine. (And the best part? It didn't cost Jordan over $1,200 for this suit even though it looks like it should! Seriously men, check out The Black Tux.)
When envisioning your wedding what was the one most important thing to you?
"Jordan and I made a point to identify this early on! I knew I wanted a rockin' live band and a wedding coordinator for the day-of. Jordan was particular about the photographer and the bar. We addressed these things right after we chose our venue! And it ended up being the perfect night, because we spent money on things we cared about."
What was the best piece of advice someone gave you during your planning process?
"I received a valuable piece of advice before our wedding that I now pass on to other brides: if you can, take a moment post-ceremony to sit down and enjoy the excitement of the day with your husband. Jordan and I ate a quick dinner and popped a bottle of champagne in a separate room at our reception venue before being introduced as husband and wife. I knew we'd be greeting guests and dancing with friends at the reception, so it was special celebrating just us for a moment!"
Can we talk about their vintage NYC taxi getaway car for a second?! Talk about a DREAM. The absolute perfect ending and getaway for this New York couple and their classic NYC wedding. Mary Catherine + Jordan -- it was an absolute honor getting to be a small piece of making your big day come together as you always imagined. Cheers to many more years of love and laughter and happily ever after.
